Website Content Specialist

Bowdoin College seeks a detail‑oriented, collaborative website operations specialist to support the associate director of digital strategy and operations within the Office of Communications and Public Affairs. This role plays a critical part in stewarding the College’s primary digital presence— www.bowdoin.edu —ensuring it is accurate, engaging, accessible, and impactful for a wide range of audiences. The specialist will edit, produce, and remediate website content, remediating existing content to meet accessibility standards, and partner with more than 100 campus departments to bring their stories and information to life online. Combining strong editorial judgment with technical fluency, this role balances hands‑on content work with systems support, training, and consultation for Bowdoin’s content creator community. As a member of the digital strategy and operations team, the website operations specialist will also help manage and support the software and platforms that power the Bowdoin website ecosystem—including third‑level domain sites, analytics, calendars, and ticketing tools—while contributing to broader digital initiatives across campus. Essential Functions

Edits, produces, and remediates content in collaboration with campus partners, managing projects that include editing, proofreading, formatting, layout, photo editing, troubleshooting, and accessibility compliance. Supports the administration and management of website software and services related to the primary Bowdoin website, including third‑level domain sites. Advises and supports the Bowdoin content creator community, serving as a point of contact for clients and offering content strategy and website management expertise. Develops and delivers software training for Bowdoin’s content creator community and creates and maintains documentation and resources. Benefits and Perks

Excellent communicator, with exceptional writing and proofreading skills. Able to follow an editorial style guide. Self‑starter, comfortable with and capable of working independently, managing your work queue, and proactively identifying areas that need improvement. Interpersonal skills and multicultural competence; patient and capable of working with a variety of skill levels. Problem‑solving mindset; demonstrates analytical and creative thinking. Detail‑oriented, precise, and organized. Experience Requirements

2+ years of related experience required. 4+ years preferred. Extensive experience in content management systems, HTML, and knowledge of CSS. Knowledge of web accessibility standards and web usability principles. Experience with Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and related analytics/SEO tools and platforms. Basic or working knowledge of photo and video editing skills. Professional experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Standard Work Days and Hours

Standard administrative hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a full‑time, exempt‑level position and requires the time commitment necessary to fulfill all of the job responsibilities. Visa Sponsorship
