Job Summary The holder of this position will work closely and integrate with AU's Communications and Marketing to maintain a positive public image, promote college programs, and publicize student and faculty achievements in alignment with university standards. The Communications Strategist will produce and design content for the college's internal and external newsletters, digital and print Annual Report, and other public communications.

Responsibilities

Event Management:

Assist in planning, organizing, and carrying out college events, generate marketing content, and provide post‑event coverage.

Newsletters & Electronic Communications:

Create, design, and produce print and digital issues of newsletters and the Annual Report using templates and tools such as Poppulo, Emma/Marigold, and listservs; electronically distribute materials and meet content deadlines.

Communications & Marketing Strategy and Planning:

Maintain situational awareness of college priorities, attend meetings, develop and execute communication and marketing strategies, and present plans to the dean and leadership team.

Content Development and Management:

Serve as primary contact with subject matter experts to generate, edit, and deliver content across outlets (website, Jagwire, newsletters, social media, etc.); coordinate photography and videography; maintain a library of digital assets.

Website Management:

Review and update website content, fix broken links, and work with technology staff to improve the site following web governance guidelines.

Social Media Management:

Curate and post content on social channels, monitor online reputation, and recommend enhancements to social presence.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of three years of direct related communications/marketing experience.

Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in marketing, public relations, strategic communications, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases; knowledge of office procedures, databases, operating systems, spreadsheets; photography/videography/graphic design; CMS; Google Analytics; marketing/PR campaigns.

Skills:

Excellent organization, prioritization, creativity, storytelling, verbal and written communication, collaboration, business software (Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat Pro, web editing/publishing), design sense, HTML/CSS, customer service, project management.

Abilities:

Maintain confidentiality; analytical; independent workstation; professionalism; pressure management; resource coordination; attention to detail; proficiency with social media platforms; adherence to AU policies and resources.

Shift/Salary/Benefits Shift:

Days, M‑F (outside normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band:

B10

Salary:

Minimum $52,500 annually – Midpoint $54,080 annually (commensurate with qualifications)
