About the Role Are you a detail-oriented professional looking to grow your career in estimating within the telecommunications and data center construction space? We’re looking for an Associate Estimator to support our preconstruction team in developing accurate, competitive bids for hyperscale data center and telecom infrastructure projects.

In this role, you’ll work closely with Estimators and Proposal leadership to support quantity takeoffs, coordinate subcontractor outreach, and help build comprehensive bid packages. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across the full estimating lifecycle while contributing to high‑impact, mission‑critical projects.

What You’ll Do – Learn the Process. Build the Foundation.

Support Estimators and Senior Estimators with quantity takeoffs for structured cabling and telecom infrastructure.

Review construction drawings and specifications related to fiber optics, copper cabling, pathways, cable tray, ladder rack, and telecom rooms.

Assist in developing conceptual budgets, negotiated bids, and hard bid estimates.

Prepare and distribute Invitations to Bid (ITBs) to subcontractors and vendors.

Maintain and update subcontractor and vendor bid lists.

Follow up with subcontractors and vendors to confirm bid participation and pricing.

Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs, cost budgets, and estimate documentation from kickoff through submission.

Log subcontractor and vendor pricing into bid spreadsheets and estimating systems.

Coordinate subcontractor RFIs and support responses with the estimating team.

Contact vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and confirm scope coverage.

Assist in assembling proposal packages and bid documentation.

Organize and maintain estimating files, bid documentation, and project records.

Support development of scope comparison sheets and bid leveling spreadsheets.

Participate in internal estimate reviews and subcontractor scope discussions.

Attend pre-bid meetings and project walkthroughs as needed.

Assist with project turnover documentation for handoff to operations and project teams.

Maintain accurate records within estimating systems and project databases.

Track and report progress on assigned tasks during estimating team meetings.

Stay current on industry trends in data center construction and telecom infrastructure.

What You Bring

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.

Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and completeness.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and telecom documentation.

Basic knowledge of estimating principles, cost analysis, and quantity takeoffs.

Familiarity with structured cabling systems, fiber optics, and cable pathways.

Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and vendors.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of pricing and project information.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Familiarity with estimating software tools is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow within the estimating function.

High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Experience

3+ years of experience in the low voltage, telecommunications, or construction industry.

Exposure to estimating, project coordination, or preconstruction activities preferred.

Previous experience supporting project management or administrative coordination is a plus.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Progress toward BICSI certifications is a plus.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily office-based with standard sitting, standing, and computer use.

Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs may be required.
