SUMMARY Ajax Building Company is seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to support the development of accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex construction projects. This role is an entry point into our Preconstruction team, offering hands‑on experience in quantity takeoffs, pricing, and bid development while working alongside experienced estimators and project teams.

The Junior Estimator will assist in analyzing drawings and specifications, compiling cost data, and supporting the overall estimating process—building a strong foundation in construction pricing, cost control, and project planning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Review drawings, specifications, and other project documents to support estimate development

Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in preparing detailed cost estimates

Compile and analyze data from various sources, including historical cost data, subcontractor pricing, and material quotes

Maintain organized backup documentation for all estimates and assumptions

Assist in soliciting and leveling subcontractor and vendor bids

Support tracking of awarded projects, including change orders, pricing updates, and cost adjustments

Attend pre‑bid meetings and assist in scope review and clarification

Perform additional assignments as needed to support the estimating team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent technical training)

Internship or exposure to construction or estimating preferred

Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost components

Strong analytical and mathematical skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software a plus

Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
