Junior Estimator – Commercial Drywall
Location:
Savannah, GA OR Charleston, SC
Position Summary An established commercial construction firm is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimator to support the preconstruction team in preparing accurate cost estimates for drywall and related scopes. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in construction estimating, with opportunities for growth and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs for drywall, metal studs, insulation, ceilings, and related systems
Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Solicit and track vendor and subcontractor pricing
Help compile and organize bid proposals and supporting documentation
Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software
Communicate with project managers, estimators, and field teams for scope clarification
Participate in project handoff meetings after award
Ensure deadlines are met for bid submissions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Basic understanding of construction drawings and terminology
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline‑driven environment
Strong communication and willingness to learn
Preferred (but not required)
Internship or prior exposure to commercial construction or estimating
Familiarity with takeoff or estimating software (e.g., On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Planswift)
Knowledge of drywall systems and materials
Work Environment
Office‑based with occasional site visits
Collaborative team setting with training and mentorship provided
