Junior Estimator - Civil Construction
Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, grading, paving, and other site-work components. Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify scope requirements. Support senior estimators in developing accurate cost estimates and preparing bid packages. Gather supplier and subcontractor quotes, ensuring pricing accuracy and alignment with project scope. Perform basic cost analysis including material, labor, equipment, and production rates for site-work operations. Help maintain historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy for future projects. Review addenda and project updates to adjust quantities and pricing as needed. Participate in job site visits to better understand field conditions, access, and construction constraints. Assist with proposal writing, including assembling scope narratives, clarifications, and exclusions. Use estimating software and digital takeoff tools (e.g., InSite, HCSS, Bluebeam) under the supervision of senior staff. Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure estimates reflect constructability and project requirements. Track bid deadlines and submission requirements, ensuring timely and complete delivery of proposals. Support value-engineering exercises, identifying cost-saving alternatives in materials or construction methods. A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is a plus. Competitive base salary ranging from $80,000 to $120,000 USD, depending on qualifications and experience.
