
Elections Specialist

Our office is responsible for conducting all elections held in Gaston County. Locally, we administer State election laws. Our principal functions include establishing election precincts and voting sites, appointing and training precinct officials, preparing and distributing ballots, voting equipment, canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in elections, and investigating any voting irregularities.
We maintain voter registration for Gaston County and provide public information on voters and elections.
An hourly salary range of $20.43 to $23.75 is anticipated for this position.
Responsibilities
Provide election administrative support to department divisions, including ongoing activities and pre- and post-election tasks. This position coordinates all aspects of multipartisan assistance teams for voters in assisted living facilities.
Enter, update, and maintain current and prospective voters into the state elections voter database (SEIMS).
Perform administrative tasks and customer service duties. Prepare database listings, spreadsheets, and other public records requests.
Other duties assigned by the Director of Elections.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
A minimum of three years of experience in working in a clerical environment
Notary Public Certification must be obtained within one year of hire
Election experience preferred or an equivalent of education and experience
The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment
