
Assoc Director of Development

Primary Function
The Associate Director of Development will oversee significant elements of the Development Department. First & foremost, the Associate Director of Development will be responsible for identifying, soliciting, and stewarding a core group of donors, primarily individuals and foundations. The Associate Director of Development will report directly to and cooperate with the Vice President of Development to ensure all annual income goals are met each fiscal year. This includes both macro‑level strategic work and directly fundraising from a select group of donors. This role will demand flexibility, fundraising expertise, and a cooperative mentality.
Essential Job Responsibilities Development & Strategy
Support Vice President of Development in the execution of all annual fundraising campaigns & strategies
Cooperate with the VP of Development on a bi‑weekly basis, building out macro level fundraising strategies, ensuring the department is on a path to meet & exceed its annual goals
Manage fundraising for a sub‑set of donors, ensuring certain pre‑determined monetary and onboarding goals are met. This portfolio will be mutually agreed upon between VP of Development and Associate Director of Development
Develop innovative approaches to generate new prospects and increase the level of giving from existing donors
Promote and close complex gift agreements and steward gifts as appropriate
Build out and oversee BGCGC’s cultivation efforts and initiatives for various donor groups. Including but not limited to acknowledgement letters, the creation of necessary literature and media, interim updates, engagement efforts, and more
Support Vice President of Development and development team with meeting preparation, donor relations, annual campaigns, and writing projects as needed
Support the Vice President of Development with the oversight of our grants program and our third‑party grant writing team, GrantsPlus. Occasional grant reviewing and reporting may be required
Writes and presents reports for internal and external purposes, including reports on philanthropic giving (i.e. total income, sources of income, type of gifts, commitments, etc.) and progress toward goals, as well as benchmark reports as directed
Participate on the Revenue Development Board Committee as needed
Database & Software
Support the management and implementation of our CRM donor database, SalesForce, exploring inventive ways to leverage its potential and ensuring accuracy of all data inputted
Support the team in running weekly reports, and other reports as necessary, to inform necessary next steps in the Stewardship Process
Other
Assist in the interviewing and onboarding of new Development employees, informing them of past relationships, experiences, and situations relevant to their roles and the understanding of the non‑profit
Participate and support all fundraising event efforts led by the Development Team
Cooperate with the Operations & Workforce Development Departments to support the running of specific programs, initiatives, events, and opportunities
Help identify outside parties that may be able to offer additional programs and learning opportunities for BGCGC staff & club members
Work directly with the Finance Department to ensure gifts are accurately logged and tracked
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required by the Vice President of Development
Be passionate for the BGCGC mission and the club members we serve
Relationships Internal:
Maintains close contact with management team and club staff to receive/provide information, support, and discuss issues.
External:
Maintains contact as needed with Board of Trustees and Community Advisory Groups, vendors and the general public.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment Minimal physical effort required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift and walk. Maximum unassisted lift = 50lbs. Average lift less than 25lbs. Requires the ability to use a computer, various software and database programs, keyboard, calculator and typical office machines. Requires traveling by car to club facilities and community sites for meetings.
Environment Inside average office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment required. Ambient temperature between 68 and 76°F. Some outdoor activity.
Skills/Knowledge Required
Significant experience in fundraising from different donor entities, including individuals, corporations, foundations, government entities (local, county, state, federal), work within a non‑profit setting is required. Grant writing or management experience is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, CFRE or equivalent experience preferred.
Strong organizational/time management skills with the ability to work unsupervised and to be a self‑motivated problem‑solver.
Demonstrated computer skills in major MS Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Use of database software and Photoshop or other illustrator software a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred: experience with managing, utilizing, and overseeing development CRM systems.
Preferred: experience with management of grants and grant writing teams.
