
Technical Writer

We are seeking a highly skilled
Technical Writer
to support the development of comprehensive documentation for complex power generation equipment consisting of 700+ components per system. This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to translate highly technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong engineering foundation who can bridge the gap between design intent and end-user understanding.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation including:
Operation & maintenance manuals
Assembly and installation guides
Service and troubleshooting documentation
Parts catalogs and bills of materials (BOMs)
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand system design, functionality, and updates
Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
Translate technical data into clear instructions for technicians, operators, and customers
Standardize documentation formats, terminology, and processes across product lines
Work with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and field service to ensure accuracy and usability
Support product launches with complete and accurate documentation packages
Manage document revisions and version control
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering
(Mechanical, Electrical, or related field strongly preferred)
3+ years of experience in technical writing within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Experience with complex mechanical or electro-mechanical systems (highly preferred)
Strong ability to read and interpret:
CAD drawings
P&IDs
Proficiency with technical documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar)
Excellent written communication skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to simplify complex concepts for a variety of audiences
Experience working in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
Background in power generation, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery
Familiarity with ERP or PLM systems
Experience developing illustrated parts manuals and service documentation
Knowledge of industry standards (ISO, ANSI, or similar)
