
Senior Estimator (Millwork)

Position Summary
The Estimator is a key contributor to success by accurately reading architectural drawings, generating millwork take-offs, and finalizing pricing proposals that align with company financial goals. This role is essential in driving financial success, ensuring precise cost assessment, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through professionalism and attention to detail. Responsibilities
Drawing & Specification Review:
Read and interpret architectural drawings, project specifications, schedules, and any client-supplied documents. Identify project phasing, product requirements, and installation constraints.
Millwork Take-Offs & Scope Definition:
Perform accurate, room-by-room take-offs using project pak. Define and quantify millwork items including cabinets, countertops, panels, desks, specialty components, etc. Clearly document scope exclusions, clarifications, and assumptions in proposal notes.
Cost Estimating & Proposal Development:
Apply appropriate labor hours and material costs based on shop standards. Use standard markup formulas to finalize proposal pricing. Ensure all pricing reflects current company labor and material rates.
Office & Subcontractor Communication:
Communicate professionally with Subcontractors and office via email and phone. Coordinate and send take-off packages to subcontractors for pricing on outsourced items. Follow up to ensure quote return and clarify subcontractor scope.
Collaboration & Internal Coordination:
Work with president, Senior Estimator, drafting, and purchasing staff to validate pricing assumptions. Seek input on specialty construction, finishes, or new materials when needed. Ask questions when unknowns come up.
Requirements
Minimum
2+ years' experience in construction estimating, drafting, or related field. Eagerness to learn and proficiency in foundational computer knowledge. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read construction drawings and specifications. Preferred
2+ years estimating experience in millwork or architectural woodwork. Bachelor's degree in construction management, Architecture, Business, or related field. Hands‑on experience in cabinet production or Blue Beam is a plus. Key Skills

Computer proficiency Project Pak Microsoft Office 365 (Word, SharePoint) Bluebeam Revu for digital takeoffs Plan Swift for project tracking and reporting
