
Assistant Director of Transportation Operations

MGT is seeking a contract employee to support one of our valued clients on an ongoing, long-term assignment. This position requires full-time, on-site availability and flexibility to work irregular shifts as needed.
This position serves as management’s on-site authority, providing continuous oversight of operations to ensure safety, compliance and operational efficiency with a customer service focus. Acting as management’s on-the-ground liaison, the role actively monitors conditions, identifies issues in real time, and delivers timely, accurate reporting to leadership ensuring situational awareness to support informed decision-making. The position also maintains detailed operational records, documenting facility access, vendor work activities including scope and duration on site, and operational impacts to ensure accountability, transparency, and a reliable operational history.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to managers, supervisors, and frontline staff
Oversee daily landside and transportation operations with a strong customer-service focus
Manage curbside activity, ground transportation coordination, parking operations, and roadway activity
Coordinate transportation flow and space utilization to maximize efficiency and minimize service disruptions
Serve as the primary operational liaison with tenants, vendors, and service partners
Support response to irregular operations, emergencies, and unplanned events
Conduct routine inspections to ensure facilities and transportation areas are safe, clean, compliant, and fully operational
Track operational issues, corrective actions, and follow-up through structured reporting
Coordinate operational impacts related to construction and improvement projects
Collaborate cross-functionally with safety, facilities, maintenance, and infrastructure teams
Promote a customer-centric culture and continuously improve service delivery
Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and process enhancements
Leadership & Oversight
Directly supervise managers and supervisors
Support training, performance management, scheduling, and issue resolution
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
Qualifications
Experience managing landside, transportation, or mobility-focused operations in a complex, high-volume environment
Strong background in ground transportation, parking, roadway operations, or logistics-oriented services
Proven leadership experience in fast-paced or 24/7 operational settings
Ability to manage high-visibility issues and make time-sensitive decisions
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational management systems
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
Flexibility to work nontraditional hours and respond to emergencies as needed
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Public Administration, Transportation Management, or a related field
Relevant leadership experience in transportation, mobility services, facilities operations, or infrastructure‑adjacent environments
MGT is seeking one qualified candidate for each of the following schedules. Schedule assignments will be made based on operational needs and candidate availability. Candidates must have flexibility to provide coverage as needed and accommodate potential shift changes.
