
Assistant Director of the Zoo

JOB OBJECTIVE:
To plan, direct, manage and oversee the activities, programs, and operations for assigned divisions within the Little Rock Zoo; to provide assistance to the Zoo Director with the planning and establishment of short-range and long-range goals for the Little Rock Zoo.
This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Biology, Zoology or a related area, four (4) years of managerial or administrative-level experience in planning and directing programs or a related area, two (2) years of strategic business planning and budget management experience, or a related area, and four (4) years of supervisory experience which includes the supervision of management-level personnel. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
Must be a resident of the City of Little Rock within ninety (90) days of employment; must maintain residency for the duration of employment in this position.
Must be available to work outside of regular business hours and for callback after scheduled work hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
