WFOX TV Jacksonville is in search of a News Producer who consistently crafts in-depth, fast-paced, memorable newscasts. We are looking for a visionary who oversees assigned newscasts, writes clear, concise and engaging content, communicates well with talent, directors, editors, and other colleagues, and helps lead the team to a successful broadcast that delivers our audience the most accurate, important information. The successful news producer is not a show‑stacker; they are able to showcase the big story, utilize chapter development, investigate beyond the news release and dig to find the truth. News Producers create the framework for the original content that is the backbone of our news operation.

We are looking for someone with experience managing live shots and field communication, pivoting quickly when there is breaking news during a newscast, and helping ensure smooth production of the big story during extended coverage. The successful candidate must be well read on current affairs and have a wide range of knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects. They are expected to help generate enterprise story ideas. Understanding coverage needs on social media, streaming, and digital platforms is expected. Collaboration with others is a must for this position, and candidates should be open to feedback with a desire to grow in their role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Craft relevant, energetic, important and memorable newscasts

Create the rundown for assigned newscasts, including story order, duration, and talent assignments to ensure proper scripting, production and timing

Write Newscast Opens, Broadcast Stories, and Teases

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Work with the Design Department to develop graphics for showcasing stories

Consult with Directors, Anchors, Reporters, Managers and other colleagues on production needs

Work in the Control Room during broadcasts to oversee presentation and communicate with talent and photographers

Understand and effectively use social media and digital platforms

Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Understanding of how to write for broadcast news, including concise writing, proper grammar & news judgement

Must be able to sit for long periods of time and handle highly stressful, fast-paced situations

This is a 100% in-person role requiring regular shifts at the station location

Preferred Qualifications

Degree from four-year College or University in Journalism or Communications

1 year experience producing live television newscasts
