Intern – IT Business Development Solutioning Jumpstart your IT career with Ryder Systems, Inc.! Ryder’s Information Technology organization is strategically focused on growing supply chain and transportation businesses through technology-driven solutions that optimize transportation and supply chain networks.

The IT Business Development Solutioning Intern will support technology solutioning and strategy efforts by working closely with Solutions Managers, Operations, Engineering and IT functional SMEs. This role helps bridge business needs and technology capabilities by supporting discovery, requirements documentation, proposal development, and solution analysis for customer pursuits.

The intern will gain hands-on exposure to how a Fortune 500 technology organization operates day-to-day, including how technology strategies are formed, evaluated, and executed. As part of Ryder Technology’s Office of the CIO (OCIO) ecosystem, the intern will work in a Lean/Agile environment and learn how technology teams analyze, improve, and scale operations to support business growth.

This role is well-suited for students interested in both business and technology, including technologists who want exposure to business strategy, or business majors who want deeper insight into enterprise technology.

Eligibility (Internship) Current graduate student (MBA/MS) or final year undergraduate (BA/BS) in: Information Systems, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

What this intern will do (Day to day)

Shadow discovery calls and internal scope sessions; capture notes, assumptions, and open questions.

Help translate customer and business needs into draft requirements (user stories, process steps) and basic “asis/tobe” process maps.

Assist with proposal and pursuit support by compiling technical responses, validating inputs with IT and Operations teams, and maintaining version control of solution artifacts.

Build basic visuals, including high-level integration context diagrams (systems and data movement) using Visio and PowerPoint.

Draft concise readouts (1–2 pages) summarizing scope, risks, dependencies, and recommended next steps for leadership and internal review.

Support analysis of current processes and contribute ideas for operational and technology improvements.

Modified Required Experience (Intern friendly version)

0–2 years of experience (internships, coops, or capstone projects included) in IT, analytics, supply chain, or operations.

Demonstrated interest in logistics, 3PL, or distribution operations through coursework (supply chain, warehousing, operations management) or academic project work.

Exposure to WMS concepts (inventory, receiving, picking, shipping) through classwork, labs, or self-study; no hands‑on system administration required.

Basic understanding of systems integration concepts (APIs, EDI, flat files) with the ability to explain them at a high level and document process flows (advanced learning occurs on the job).

Exposure to RFP or RFI style work (academic or internship experience), including gathering inputs, organizing responses, and communicating clarifying questions.

Strong written documentation skills (requirements, meeting notes, process maps) and comfort presenting short updates to a small group.

Preferred (Nice to have)

Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables), PowerPoint storytelling, and light SQL or Power BI.
