Core Responsibilities
Based on customer and project manager-supplied content and message schedules, create CAD-type drawings, layouts, and production files using designated software tools
Generate and revise drawings and/or documentation related to signs, as required by permit offices or internal fabrication and installation teams
Produce production-ready art for us by the internal fabrication teams and the equipment (router files, channel letter bender files, brakeform equipment, etc.)
Coordinate with all aspects of sign making process to meet internal and external deadlines and take a leading role in driving pre-production and production
Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in the fabricated and architectural signage space.
Experience with 3D design tools – 3D modeling preferred, but other AutoCAD-type experience will be considered.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Corel, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or comparable industry programs
Understanding of electrical systems to light and power illuminated, programmable, or LED screen-enabled signs
Understanding of structural design and the mechanics of assembling and installing dimensional, architectural, and illuminated signage.
Understanding of structural design and municipal design requirements, including wind-load calculations, load paths, attachment methods, material characteristics, dynamic loads, and structural redundancy.
Ability to review, read, and understand technical drawings, building plans, architectural drawings, and blueprints.
Ability to create drawings from sketches, measurements, marked-up prints, and technical surveys
Ability to import and export file types to and from various graphics and production programs
Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to handle multiple projects
Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills; written, verbal, and listening.
Experience with signage and electrical permitting requirements, especially in the state of Minnesota, would be helpful.
Experience with ADA standards a plus
Work independently with and without supervision
Education And/or Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Signage or fabrication/constructional engineering experience required.
Computer Skills
Solid understanding of computers, data entry, internet searches, the Microsoft Office suite, and email applications
Experience with 3D design tools – 3D modeling is preferred, but other AutoCAD-type experience will be considered.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Corel, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or comparable industry programs
Experience with ERP systems is a plus
Other Qualifications
Ability to pass a background check
Ability to write effective correspondence to customers and coworkers
Vision abilities required by this job include being able to see clearly at 20 inches or less, distinguish colors, and adjust focus
Mathematical abilities required by this job include reading a ruler, calculating simple costs, and other basic mathematical skills
