Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Athletic Events and Facilities supports the planning, preparation, and execution of home athletic competitions and special events. Reporting to the Director of Athletic Events and Facilities, this role assists in coordinating event operations and facility logistics to ensure efficient, safe, and high‑quality game day and event experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
Event management oversight for select sports/events
Coordination of venue setup and teardown
Crowd management
Assisting with various facility projects and other special projects as assigned
Daily support for the operation and upkeep of athletic facilities, including work order management and tracking, and communication with end users
Assisting the Director in the coordination and execution of assigned Conference and NCAA post‑season events
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field
One to two years of relevant experience in collegiate and/or professional event/facility management
Demonstrated ability to work independently and identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively
Experience working at NCAA Division I Basketball postseason events
Knowledge of Name, Image, and Likeness and ability to coordinate facility accommodations for respective contracts
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field
Previous NCAA Division I experience in event/facility management
Previous experience coordinating, supervising, and organizing event staff and students
Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable Conference and NCAA rules and regulations
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and make decisions in a timely and professional manner
Appointment Terms This is a full‑time, permanent position with no relocation assistance. The incumbent must be able to work flexible and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays. Compensation for this position is $57,505.00. The University offers a competitive salary and outstanding benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment.
