Location: Floral Street School.
Bargaining Unit: Non-Union
Hiring Range: $21? Per hour
Department & Supervisor: Recreation, Recreation Coordinator - Programs
Summary The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking a leader who is passionate about childhood development to serve as our Summer Sprouts Program Director. In this role, you will manage a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for our youngest campers (age 3-5). If you are an experienced youth program leader comfortable with managing staff and working with children and their families, we would love to hear from you!
What You’ll Do
Plan and implement age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, music, storytelling, outdoor play, and creative learning experiences.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants and maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
Communicate effectively with parents & guardians regarding camp activities.
Effectively manage the program and staff.
Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment for young children.
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with preschool aged children (ages 3-5) required.
Previous experience supervising staff or leading youth programs preferred.
Background in early childhood education, recreation, education, or related fields preferred.
Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain prior to program start).
A positive, adaptable, and teamwork-driven attitude.
Ability to actively participate in games and activities, lift program equipment and supplies (up to approximately 25 lbs), and work outdoors in summer weather conditions.
