Position Overview
Harris County Tax Assessor‑Collector’s Office is seeking a dedicated, detail‑oriented, and technical‑focused Property Tax Data Analyst to support the Property Tax Division. Duties and Responsibilities
Process monthly data files from the Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery Central Appraisal Districts into the ACT property tax system. Generate and mail property tax statements, delinquent notices and other mailings. Coordinate statement files with print vendor (e.g., certified agent bulk packing). Manage the annual mortgage company notification mailing. Analyze property tax data and resolve discrepancies using SQL queries and database tools. Conduct regression testing and validate system functionality prior to code migration. Load and validate system updates from delinquent law firms and other internal files (e.g., quarterly payment plans, write‑offs, escheatments). Process returns mail file to maintain accurate statement records. Generate and distribute monthly delinquent data files for law firms and public information requests. Assist with billing inquiries and Central Appraisal District‑value discrepancies. Perform ACT password resets, new user setup and related support. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Legal Studies, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for the required education. Three (3) years of work experience in a professional office environment, with experience in Data Analysis, Business Analysis or Production Support. OR: Associate’s degree in information technology, computer programming or an equivalent field; relevant experience may substitute for the required education. Five (5) years of work experience in a professional office environment, with experience in Data Analysis, Business Analysis or Production Support. Education and experience may substitute for one another on a year‑for‑year basis. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient in SQL, TOAD, Oracle, Monarch, FileZilla and other data query tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel, Outlook, Word). Ability to interpret and process complex data files from appraisal districts and third‑party vendors. High accuracy in data processing, reporting and documentation. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills for cyclical billing cycles and ad‑hoc requests. Familiarity with regression testing methodologies and QA practices. High attention to detail, especially with large data sets and mailing operations. Ability to work independently and coordinate with cross‑functional Property Tax teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills to respond to internal and external stakeholders. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage workflows and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, high‑volume setting. Preferences
Basic knowledge of Property Tax appraisal and collection processes. Working Hours
7:45 am – 4:45 pm; subject to early mornings, late evenings and weekends. Working Conditions
Office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation and normal temperature/ noise range. Sedentary with occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 10 lb. Frequent volume of work with regular deadlines. Work Location
