Baltimore’s Promise is seeking a Director of Data Partnerships to lead critical functions and projects within our backbone organization. Baltimore's Promise is a city‑wide collaborative composed of public, business, higher education, nonprofit, and philanthropic leaders. We serve as a catalyst for organizing efforts and resources around a shared vision: all Baltimore City youth will travel a safe, healthy, and successful educational path from cradle to career. To achieve these goals, Baltimore’s Promise is seeking a Director of Data Partnerships. This position will manage and coordinate with data partners who will implement the collection, interpretation, and clear dissemination of data to support the organization’s activities, using a racial equity approach. The Director will engage the stakeholder network around data relevant to the wellbeing of Baltimore City youth and young adults in creative and action‑oriented ways. The role reports to Julia Baez, Executive Director of Baltimore’s Promise.
Responsibilities
Data Initiatives
Develop a city‑wide, cradle‑to‑career Integrated Data System.
Create an externally‑facing, user‑friendly, interactive data dashboard linked to public data sets and the integrated data system.
Build and maintain relationships with other data stakeholders in Baltimore City.
Recruit and facilitate the Baltimore’s Promise Data Workgroup.
Project Management and Communication Products
Lead the development of the Annual Report to the Community and other data stories.
Produce data visualizations, infographics, blog posts, and social media content.
Coordinate dissemination of data, research, and information through newsletters, social media, and the website.
Stay current on local and national best practices and produce communication products to inform stakeholders.
Create internal communiques for staff and Board communications, including Board meeting packets.
Monitor and oversee contracts with data and communications partners, ensuring deliverables and payment schedules are met.
Advise on data collection design for work groups, including logic models, theory of change, and benchmark setting.
Support data analysts on projects informing the organization’s efforts.
Present data via written reports and oral presentations at meetings with foundations, media, and other stakeholders.
Explore national presence opportunities, conference presentations, and article submissions.
Assist with other initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; five or more years of relevant work experience. Experience in continuous improvement preferred; success in facilitating multidisciplinary or multi‑organizational teams desired.
Knowledge & Technical Skills:
Excellent project management, organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SPSS or similar statistical software, data visualization tools, ArcGIS, and relational databases. Passion for the transformative power of education. Knowledge of health, early childhood, K‑12 education, higher education, and/or workforce issues highly desired. Knowledge of Adobe Suite preferred.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Successful engagement of partners, facilitation of work groups, advice to governing bodies, and technical assistance to stakeholder networks. Comfortable working with senior executives from government, business, education, foundations, and nonprofits.
Communication and Relationship Building:
Effective communication across sectors, ability to translate jargon, and maintain positive, cohesive relationships.
Project Management:
Ability to set aggressive timelines, manage multiple partners and contractors, and hold parties accountable to deliverables.
Problem‑Solving & Adaptability:
Proactive in addressing complex issues, listening, and integrating stakeholder input.
Planning & Organizing:
Facilitation of stakeholder planning, evidence‑based improvement action plans, and convening of partners.
Embracing Change:
Champions change and equips partners to accelerate change management.
Teamwork:
Cultivates collaboration with work groups, action teams, staff, and critical partners.
