Are you passionate about expanding clean energy awareness and creating pathways for high school students to engage in the clean energy economy? Do you enjoy designing programs, building partnerships, and leading teams that make a meaningful difference in historically underrepresented communities?
Working alongside the NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) Boston Professionals, the Program Director will oversee the Clean Energy Awareness & Exposure Initiative, connecting high school students with workforce opportunities and providing them with structured learning experiences in the clean energy sector.
This role leads program development, oversees curriculum and exposure strategy, manages key partnerships, and ensures successful implementation of all program phases—from outreach and recruitment to student support and employer engagement. The Program Director will also identify and pursue additional funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships, to support program sustainability and growth.

The Program Director will report to the NSBE Boston Programs Chairpersons, collaborating closely to shape, plan, and execute outreach events with participating high schools, program partners, and Massachusetts clean energy employers. This program centers on supporting communities—especially Environmental Justice Communities (EJCs)—that have been historically underrepresented in the clean energy economy.
Job Duties/Responsibilities Program Leadership & Strategy
Lead overall program development, strategy, and execution for the clean energy awareness and exposure initiative.
Oversee design and delivery of curriculum, programming, and career-development content appropriate for high school students.
Establish and refine the program timeline, milestones, and operational processes from student recruitment through program participation and career exploration.
Partnership & Stakeholder Management
Build and maintain relationships with participating high schools, employers in the clean energy sector, community partners, and program sponsors.
Represent the program externally at meetings, outreach events, and community engagement opportunities.
Coordinate with clean energy companies to develop meaningful exposure opportunities (e.g., workshops, speaker sessions, site visits, and career panels) for junior and senior high school students.
Student Engagement & Placement
Oversee recruitment, application review, and selection of students for program participation.
Ensure the successful engagement of at least fifteen students in structured program experiences.
Support students and families through communication, orientation, and ongoing guidance.
Operations, Evaluation & Reporting
Maintain organized records, program data, and communication logs using approved tools and processes.
Prepare scheduled reports with relevant program updates, metrics, and outcomes.
Manage program documentation, including curriculum maps, communications, and outreach materials.
Identify and pursue additional funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships, to support program sustainability and growth.
Qualifications
Strong commitment to addressing global climate change, promoting equitable clean energy access, and advancing environmental and economic justice.
Confident communicator with the ability to engage high school students, parents, school staff, and employer partners.
Demonstrated creativity in solving challenges and removing barriers to student participation.
Experience managing or leading programs, ideally in education, workforce development, or youth engagement.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small, agile team.
Highly detail‑oriented with strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
Ability to complete accurate data entry in designated software platforms.
Creativity in outreach, engagement, and marketing approaches—leveraging in-person outreach, social media, partnerships, etc.
Ability to travel in and around the Boston area.
Successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI background check.
Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
Benefits

At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
Contract position – one-year term
