Job Overview
Position: Communications & Marketing Intern (part‑time) – Pratt School of Engineering, Duke University. This role supports strategic communications initiatives that promote the school’s research, faculty expertise, student achievements, and community impact.
Responsibilities
Develop compelling, mission‑driven content that highlights impact across digital platforms.
Support the creation and dissemination of content, including social media posts, short‑form video, event promotion, graphics, visual assets aligned with brand standards, and website/news stories as needed.
Assist the team with reviewing past projects to recommend visual content strategy that increases engagement and viewership.
Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Portfolio of creative work (video, graphics, photography).
Strong visual and storytelling skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to meet deadlines and to attend virtual or in‑person meetings on time.
Confidence in contributing creative ideas.
Receptive to constructive feedback and committed to refining work through collaboration.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with current social media platforms, trends, and analytics.
Basic video editing experience (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools.
Photography and/or videography experience is a plus.
Other Requirements This position reports to the Digital & Brand Strategy team within the Strategic Marketing & Communications group at the Pratt School of Engineering and works closely with the Senior Multimedia Producer and the Senior Integrated Marketing Communications Specialist.
