
Campus Police Officer (ANF)

This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA Non-Exempt position in the Technology and Operation Division that reports to the Chief of Police at Gwinnett Technical College.
This position’s primary location will be the Alpharetta Campus.
The role involves safety-sensitive responsibilities and requires pre-employment drug testing, finger printing and regular background checks, psychological evaluations, deception tests, and reference checks as part of the employment condition.
Due to the high-risk nature, the position is also subject to random drug and alcohol testing once hired.
Salary : Commensurate with education and experience not to exceed the budgeted amount of $59,280 /yr.
Schedule
- 40 hours per week on campus at the Alpharetta-North Fulton campus; Monday through Friday; may also work occasionally at the Lawrenceville campus.

High School or GED
POST certification required

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work in a culturally diverse environment; ten (10) years of police law‑enforcement experience; campus law‑enforcement experience.
Job Description Summary
The Campus Police Officer performs a full‑range of assigned law‑enforcement duties to maintain security and order on a technical college campus.
Qualified applicants invited to interview will be asked to complete a TCSG Pre‑Employment Questionnaire prior to the interview portion of the selection process.
If offered the position, the selected candidate must complete post‑offer screening activities, including a criminal history records check, FBI fingerprint base check, drug screening, motor‑vehicle records check, a full medical examination, and a psychological screening.
Duties/Responsibilities
Guards and monitors buildings; answers alarms and investigates disturbances; investigates criminal complaints and vehicle and other accidents.
Coordinates with State Patrol and adjacent law‑enforcement jurisdictions; apprehends criminal suspects and turns over to local jurisdiction for booking or incarceration (20% of time).
Inspects assigned area for fire or environmental hazards (3%).
Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain security of premises (10%).
Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates (10%).
Patrols assigned areas and identifies signs of unlawful entry (5%).
Knowledge of all pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations (5%).
Responds to fires, natural disasters or other hazardous events (5%).
Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force if necessary (5%).
Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities (5%).
Coordinates disaster response or crisis management activities such as opening shelters, special needs programs and evacuation (3%).
Inspects equipment and facilities to determine their operational and functional capabilities (2%).
Collaborates with others to prepare and analyze damage assessments following emergencies (3%).
Escorts or drives motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection (10%).
Directs traffic during special events; provides security for events (2%).
Maintains Peace Officer Standards Training certification (10%).
