Trainee Agronomist - Cheshire
Hutchinsons, Cheshire, CT, United States
We’re looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Agronomist in the Cheshire area. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone enthusiastic about agriculture and keen to build a long‑term professional career within agronomy.
About the Role As a Trainee Agronomist you will join the Hutchinsons Foundation, our market‑leading development programme. The Foundation combines support toward gaining professional qualifications including BASIS and FACTS, structured skills development through our in‑house training team, and practical on‑farm experience.
In the early stages you will shadow experienced agronomists, assisting with tasks such as crop walking, soil and plant assessments, and gathering field information. This will help you understand how agronomy decisions are made and how our services are delivered. As your knowledge grows, you will gradually take on more responsibility and begin building your professional presence and customer base within your local area.
Responsibilities
Assist senior agronomists with field assessments, crop walks and soil sampling.
Collect and analyse field information to support agronomic recommendations.
Contribute to the development of client relationships and local knowledge networks.
Support the delivery of on‑farm training and advisory services.
Progress to independent client engagement as skills and experience expand.
About You We’re looking for someone who has:
A genuine interest in agriculture and a desire to build a technical, customer‑facing career.
Strong communication skills and a confident, personable manner.
Good organisation and time‑management skills.
Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
A full UK driving licence and readiness to travel.
Previous agricultural experience—through work and/or study—is essential, along with a positive, can‑do attitude and ambition to build a long‑term career as an agronomist.
Benefits A competitive salary, company vehicle and full training support are provided.
