Assistant Director , you will provide leadership to community-based residential and day programs for people with developmental disabilities, and provide leadership to staff. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and compassionate in all situations.
Supports To Empower People (STEP)
provides comprehensive, community and residential services to adult men who have intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD) as well as significant behavioral and mental health concerns. The principles of Dialectical Behavioral Treatment (DBT) are adapted for the individual and integrated into all aspects of supports. STEP provides empowering assistance in therapeutically receptive environments which allows participants to embark upon the clinical challenges encountered and to safely explore and pursue their dreams.
Compensation The pay range for this position is
$48,000
to
$103,000
per
year . The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.
In This Role, You Will
Work within a team to deliver quality support that empowers individuals.
Assist in achieving both daily and long-term program objectives.
Foster and sustain productive, positive relationships with everyone, including those from diverse backgrounds.
Engage actively in STEP’s Administrative Team, including taking part in the On-Call rotation.
Supervise and enhance service quality, activities, and systems.
Provide leadership, training, and support to all staff in implementing quality systems.
Ensure the accuracy of program records and reports.
Manage incident reporting, response, and tracking systems.
Oversee service feedback mechanisms and gather input from individuals served, their families, and guardians.
Supervise systems for reporting, investigating, and addressing abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
Lead the STEP Performance Improvement and Risk Management Committee.
Design systems, organize resources, and implement ongoing monitoring activities to guarantee the appropriate delivery of all services and quality care in safe environments, supported by adequate staffing, clinical, administrative, and technical resources.
Actively engage in reviewing and implementing program policies and procedures.
Ensure that the program complies with all regulatory and quality assurance standards set by funding and/or authorizing agencies and government regulations.
Stay informed in the field by participating in conferences, seminars, and professional and advocacy organizations that promote services and programs or provide research and evaluation.
Contribute to the Administrative Team (Ad-Team) overseeing all JRI STEP operations.
Actively participate in the Community Providers Network of Rhode Island (CPNRI).
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Must be 21 years or older.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
At least five years’ experience working with developmentally disabled adults or in a human services field, with at least three years at the supervisor/management level.
Ability to work independently without a supervisor or other colleagues present.
Must have experience overseeing and managing multiple departments and or systems.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and leadership abilities.
Driver’s license and ability to drive clients in one’s own vehicle.
Background and driving record checks will be performed.
