Position Summary: St. Andrew’s School seeks a school organist to serve in a pivotal role responsible for designing the liturgical soundscape of the school and supporting the musical growth of our students. This position requires a versatile musician capable of serving as the principal organist for Episcopal and other religious services, both traditional and nontraditional.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the chapel and choral directors to select hymns and service music in accordance with Episcopal liturgy and student needs.

Prepare and perform all music, including preludes, hymns, communion, anthems, and postludes for the weekly Sunday Eucharistic service.

Provide music for Wednesday services and occasional Friday services.

Perform at high-profile school events, such as Lessons and Carols, Commencement, and Reunion.

Develop organ repertoire off campus to maintain and enhance performance quality.

Attend biweekly chapel team meetings to coordinate upcoming themes and logistical needs.

Maintain open communication with the chapel director regarding musical selections and student progress.

Job Requirements:

Demonstrated advanced proficiency in organ and piano performance.

Knowledge of Episcopal liturgy and appropriate service music is highly preferred; an understanding of the liturgical year and traditional hymnody is essential.

Strong sight-reading capabilities, particularly with hymnals.

A strong commitment to working in an educational setting, with the ability to mentor, guide, and patiently develop the skills of student musicians.
