Responsibilities Essential Job Functions

The Residential Director is responsible for assisting the Senior Shelter Director with the day-to-day residential operations of the shelter program. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Assist the Senior Shelter Director with managing and administering the shelter program from a trauma informed perspective that focuses on client centered practice (CCP) and vicarious trauma.

Oversight of the operations supervisors and entire Client Service Specialist (CSS) team to monitor daily activities, residential safety, focus on maintaining CCP skills, assisting residents in a client centered/trauma informed manner, addressing clients’ immediate needs, maintaining a safe and healing environment within the facility and implementing regular team building exercises and coaching in pursuit of positive staff morale and to obtain staff buy in.

Oversight of the facility daily operations and adherence to safety standards.

Assist Senior Shelter Director with management and oversight of billing process including reaching expected utilization targets, managing expenses, monitoring of onsite resident resources; and accurate resident documentation (electronic and hard copies).

Assist Senior Shelter Director with collaborations with internal departments to ensure the program runs efficiently (Training Department, Domestic Violence Administration, Human Resources, Development, Finance, Legal etc.) and developing partnerships with other community-based organizations, acting as a liaison to other organizations.

Mediate onsite disputes, de-escalate heightened incidents strategically, and address grievances from a trauma informed perspective.

Recruit, hire, coach, mentor and supervise residential staff, which includes understanding and responding to vicarious trauma (both for self and for staff members).

Provide high quality bi-weekly individual and monthly group supervision to Supervising Residential Specialist staff that is reflective and prioritizes improvement of client centered practice skills and includes discussions about vicarious trauma.

Develop, implement, maintain and perform quality reviews of applicable workflows for team member roles as it relates to schedules, shift tasks, intakes, registration, unit inspections, fire drills, discharge processes, program activities and personnel related tasks.

Identify areas of improvement within the supervisory and CSS team and develop viable solutions/plans to implement under the direction of the Senior Shelter Director.

Ensure the SRS and CSS schedule, trainings and certifications are tracked and maintained in accordance with agency and regulatory standards, including appropriate use and training of the temporary help agency employees.

Complete annual staff performance evaluations and develop staff professional development plans by utilizing the agency’s performance management tools.

Partner with Facilities Property Management (FPM) team, under the leadership and guidance of the Senior Shelter Director, to ensure that any health and safety concerns are highlighted, entered into the work ticket system, and resolved in a timely fashion.

Other related duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Functions

Oversight and on-site supervision of the clinical team in the absence of the SSW/Sr. Dir.

Qualifications Requirement

Graduate degree in a Human Services or related field, plus a minimum of four years relevant experience operating a facility/and or working with domestic violence survivors. Must include at least one year of supervisory experience.

Bilingual Spanish a plus

Knowledge And Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, good oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence, child abuse and neglect and sexual abuse

Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents and staff

Utilization of Client Centered Practice (CCP) skills

Ability to use neutral and non-judgmental language when responding to clients

Understanding and responding to vicarious trauma

Ability to engage with clients using a trauma informed perspective

Must be flexible, patient and able to juggle multiple roles simultaneously

Other

Full time, some nights and weekends, On-Call, City-Wide Travel
