Job Summary As an Assistant Director, you are responsible for assisting the Director of Environmental Services in directing and leading the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department. You will coordinate the tasks of the Operations Managers, serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments, and provide the highest level of service.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and review standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff in accordance with facility policies and practices.
Plan work schedules, hours, areas, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services.
Interview, select, hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of facility housekeeping personnel in accordance with standards.
Orient, train, develop, and supervise all Housekeeping staff.
Perform regular inspections and evaluations of the facility and recommend action items.
Conduct regular staff meetings and coordinate with other departments.
Schedule major project work, ensuring adequate staff and supplies.
Conduct regular inventory of housekeeping supplies.
Assist the Department Director with budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work history required.
Working knowledge of all housekeeping procedures preferred.
Demonstrated progressive growth in healthcare housekeeping facility maintenance.
Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
Excellent written and oral communication, listening, empathy, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to use a participative approach to managing staff, function under stress, organize and prioritize tasks, and develop budgets.
Excellent stress management, administrative, organizational, and follow‑through skills.
