Director of Annual Giving, Athletics

The Director of Annual Giving will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Development and is responsible for annual fundraising, communication, events, and organizational efforts for Yale Athletics’ 35 varsity teams. The Director cultivates relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of Yale Athletics, oversees volunteer initiatives, manages development and event communications, meets annual fundraising goals, and delivers stewardship experiences that deepen donor commitment. Responsibilities also include planning and executing monthly, quarterly, and annual messaging to engage Yale student‑athlete alumni, and executing sport‑specific newsletters and reports on fundraising trends.

Ability to handle a diverse portfolio and simultaneous tasks.

Highly motivated and energetic; ability to show initiative and work independently.

High level of quantitative skills; ability to analyze data and implement strategy.

Skilled in Microsoft Suite and Google platform; ability to learn new software and data management products.

Principal Responsibilities

Organizes, plans, and oversees fundraising efforts for the University.

Recruits, trains, and organizes a network of alumni volunteers.

Develops, fosters, and maintains positive alumni relations.

Contributes in writing and producing alumni reports, newsletters, and other materials to inform the alumni network.

Develops and implements financial solicitation programs; oversees budget and gift crediting functions.

Initiates and advises on the best course of action for financial solicitation programs, such as conducting written campaigns or organizing a phonathon.

Advises on timely communication, organization of campaigns, and crediting of gifts.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Three years of related experience in a fundraising capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
