The Food Services Director is responsible for the preparation and serving of all meals. The director manages the food service production and delivery system, including purchase and inventory of food and supplies. They ensure conformance with food quality, nutrition, and productivity standards, train, manage, and supervise food service staff, practice time‑management techniques, and ensure the highest possible customer satisfaction. Works effectively with the facility leadership team to ensure the success of the facility by completing the following:

CORE JOB DUTIES

Direct the expenditure of the food service budget

Ensure that the food service operates within established budgetary guidelines

Assign, direct and supervise food service workers

Assist in the hiring, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of food service workers

Follow proper receiving, storage, and preparation techniques to ensure that all food items are maintained at a high quality until consumed

Plan, implement, and review all breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus

Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in the kitchen

Prepare all local, state, and accreditation reports as directed or required

Implement strategies to create an atmosphere that will attract and retain customers

Understand and implement safety procedures as required

Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or three years of experience in a food service capacity

Minimum one year in a supervisory position, or the full‑time equivalent, as a food service supervisor in a health‑care facility in consultation with a dietitian; or trained and experienced in food service supervision and management through military service programs with experience as described above

Current ServSafe certification required

Current CPR & Basic First Aid required

All other licenses and/or certifications as required by the state

Position Competencies

Proficiency in food preparation, regulation compliance, and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas

Ability to work individually, with the supervision of cooks and other employees in the Food Service Department to improve the overall success of our kitchen

Proficiency in building revenue and managing budget, including cost controls, with regard to food, beverage, and labor

Demonstrate the proficiency and knowledge to create value through efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management

Ability to lead, mentor, engage, and develop teams to maximize their contributions, including recruiting, assessing, training, coaching, and managing performance

Ability to develop and maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually beneficial business relationships
