
Senior Indirect Tax Manager

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Indirect Tax Manager to lead our global indirect tax function. This role will have primary responsibility for U.S. sales and use tax compliance and planning, while also overseeing foreign VAT/GST compliance across multiple jurisdictions. The company’s revenue is predominantly generated in the United States, making U.S. sales tax a core focus of this position, with expanding international operations requiring strong VAT oversight and coordination with external advisors. This role will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Legal, and external service providers to ensure compliance, manage risk, and support business growth.
Key Responsibilities U.S. Sales & Use Tax
Own the end-to-end U.S. sales and use tax function, including nexus analysis, taxability determinations, registrations, filings, and payments
Manage sales tax compliance across states and local jurisdictions, including exemption certificates and resale documentation
Support audits by state and local tax authorities and manage responses, settlements, and documentation
Advise the business on sales tax implications of new products, pricing models, go-to-market strategies, and system changes
Monitor and interpret changes in U.S. indirect tax laws and assess impact on the business
International VAT / GST
Oversee foreign VAT/GST compliance in multiple jurisdictions (including EMEA and other regions, as applicable)
Coordinate with external advisors on VAT registrations, returns, audits, and advisory matters
Review VAT positions related to cross-border transactions, intercompany arrangements, and digital services
Support VAT considerations in acquisitions, integrations, and business expansions
Process, Systems & Controls
Partner with Accounting and IT on indirect tax processes within ERP and billing systems
Drive process improvements, automation, and scalability of indirect tax compliance
Support internal controls, SOX requirements, and documentation related to indirect taxes
Cross-Functional Support
Collaborate with Accounting on monthly/quarterly close matters related to indirect taxes
Support Legal and Procurement on contract review and indirect tax considerations
Provide clear, practical guidance to non-tax stakeholders across the organization
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field
5–10+ years of relevant indirect tax experience (level dependent)
Strong hands-on experience with U.S. sales and use tax
Working knowledge of VAT/GST compliance in multiple foreign jurisdictions
Experience managing indirect tax audits and interacting with tax authorities
Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, growing environment
Preferred
CPA, JD, or MST
Experience in technology, SaaS, or digital services businesses
Experience working with third-party compliance providers and tax engines
Prior exposure to M&A, integrations, or international expansion
