
EXECUTIVE PRODUCER - WTAP

Job Summary
The WTAP News Executive Producer is responsible for overseeing the editorial vision, content strategy, and day‑to‑day production of television newscasts and leading our digital content production. This role leads newsroom staff to deliver accurate, compelling, and timely news coverage across broadcast and digital platforms while maintaining high journalistic standards and meeting audience engagement goals.
Responsibilities
Oversee digital content production & metrics
Oversee the consistent creation of urgent, relevant, impactful newscasts
Lead/actively participate in editorial discussions (story meetings), review rundowns and scripts, and develop coverage plans
Work with Lead Meteorologist to execute the WTAP First Alert Weather brand
Collaborate with the News Director to execute an effective content strategy
Keep producers engaged through consistent, constructive feedback and training
Oversee live on‑air product during designated hours
Work with broadcast and digital producers for coordinated coverage
Help train new employees/interns
Produce newscasts as needed (fill‑in)
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to communicate effectively with newsroom managers, producers, and co‑workers
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong professional social media skills
Maintain a professional appearance
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
