Job Summary Alterations Specialists are responsible for completing all fittings and alterations to the high standards of David’s Bridal and report to the Store Manager. They exemplify friendly, knowledgeable, and technical expertise, providing superior customer service and demonstrating the values of the brand.

Essential Job Functions

Welcome all customers with genuine and friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats, and in person; communicate clearly and concisely, solving problems and resolving conflict.

Use all systems to manage customer flow and deliver a five‑star experience.

Maintain all service levels by being prepared, welcoming, meeting needs, and being present for all customers, including operational checklist tasks and emotional and practical needs.

Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers simultaneously and contribute to the store’s Five‑Star Customer Service achievement.

Proactively address customer concerns, escalating when necessary and partnering with the leadership team.

Communicate how alterations play an important role in perfecting the dress for the event in partnership with Alterations, and promote all alteration services and personalization options.

Assist stylists in closing sales by consulting customers regarding gown fit and customization.

Maintain store standards to support a flawless shopping experience.

Maintain a high standard of dress that complies with the Dress Code Policy.

Greet and escort all alterations customers to and from appointments.

Inspect all garments, ensuring pristine condition before final delivery.

Respond promptly to all customer questions with product and service information.

Build long‑term relationships to exceed customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Maintain inventory management, process special orders, pick‑ups, and first‑quality standards for merchandise.

Ensure alteration pricing meets company standards.

Manage all alterations, fittings, sewing, steaming, pressing, and spot‑cleaning to company standards.

Resolve customer service issues swiftly and effectively in compliance with company guidelines.

Support all cash‑wrap behaviors and process transactions accurately to make every customer feel celebrated.

Keep the alterations room consistently clean and well‑organized.

Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management.

Physical Demands Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, reach for tools and objects with hands and arms, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, bend, twist, and stand, move throughout the store, and talk and hear customers. Manual dexterity is required for POS terminals, counting money, steaming garments, accessing computers, and sewing. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 pounds and use vision for close and distant tasks, including reading and using electronic devices for long periods.

Education & Credentials

High school diploma or equivalent.

1–2 years of prior retail experience in an apparel or specialty store environment.

Prior sewing experience required, preferably in bridal and/or special‑occasion production.

Experience with a computerized POS system is a plus.
