The Branch Executive Director at the YMCA of Greensboro provides strategic leadership for all aspects of branch operations, including community relationships, partnerships and engagement, team leadership and development, board development and relations, budget management, and philanthropy (including annual and sustaining contributions). The role oversees branch programs and services, ensuring alignment with YMCA best practices and standards while driving financial sustainability and operational excellence. Strong relationship‑building skills are essential to foster internal and external partnerships and navigate a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
The Spears YMCA operates with an annual budget of $5.5 million and is the largest branch within the Association. Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Strong background in business operations and financial management with a proven track record of growth. Experience supervising staff and managing budgets comparable to the relevant branch. Experience supporting branch growth through facility construction, renovation, or expansion projects is a plus.
Reading, communication, reasoning: Effective communication required across various social and economic groups.
Soft Skills: Skilled in forming and maintaining community partnerships.
Physical requirements: Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, which include sitting, standing, and lifting weights as described; and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Vision requirements: There are no specific vision requirements for this position.
Environmental/noise: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
