Oil States is seeking a Technical Writer I for a full‑time, on‑site position in Arlington, TX (77001, USA).

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of a senior technical writer, the candidate will write and edit technical documents such as reports, manuals, specifications, and proposals related to manufacturing, quality control, and project management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Support efforts to assemble background material and produce accurate, clear, concise documents appropriate to the target audience.

Communicate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, project management, and administrative personnel to gather insights and background information.

Observe manufacturing, testing, and analytical activities to gain the necessary understanding for writing assignments.

Assimilate information from mechanical drawings, sketches, specifications, procedures, parts lists, and technical publications to establish a clear understanding of the subject matter and scope.

Review existing documents for accuracy, inconsistencies, contradictions, and grammar, and pursue necessary corrective measures.

Continuously improve the quality and content of company documentation.

Assemble graphical aids and photographs that enhance document clarity.

Work effectively within the company document control system.

Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 0–2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; or Associate’s degree with 2 years of experience; or at least 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment writing technical documentation without a degree.

Familiarity with manufacturing and quality control operations.

Knowledge of the petroleum industry, especially offshore drilling, production, and development, is a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong command of English, grammar, and punctuation.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office and PDF software for documentation creation.

Familiarity with document control software is a plus.

Proficiency in CAD and graphics software to produce rendered illustrations from existing drawings.

Self‑starter who seeks innovative ways to complete assignments within deadlines.

Strong observational skills to detect inconsistencies or conflicts in information.

Ability to work extended hours and weekends to meet document deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

Use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.

Prolonged sitting.

Frequent standing and walking.

Moderate bending, stooping, carrying, reaching, and stair use.

Lift up to 10 pounds frequently and 20 pounds occasionally.
