Invoicing Specialist

Responsibilities
Kforce's client in Saint Louis is looking for an Invoicing Specialist to support its transportation team during a period of high shipment volume. This short‑term contract role was created to backfill invoicing support after a recent team departure. The focus of this position is invoice auditing and validation, not dispute resolution or contract negotiation. This role is ideal for someone with a strong invoicing or accounting background who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment.
Review and audit ocean freight invoices by matching invoice amounts to internal order and shipment reports
Approve invoices when amounts match documented rates and shipment data
Flag invoice discrepancies for escalation to senior team members (no resolution required)
Audit drayage/trucking invoices by matching final charges to pre‑approved transportation costs
Compare invoice data against EDI information from ocean carriers and trucking partners
Download and review invoice data using Excel to assist with comparisons and validation
Support the transportation team with timely and accurate invoice processing
Requirements
Prior experience with invoice auditing, invoicing, or accounting‑related work
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
Basic Excel skills, including downloading spreadsheets and performing simple comparisons
Ability to work 100% onsite during standard business hours
Willingness to learn transportation processes and systems as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to transportation, logistics, or supply chain environments
Familiarity with ocean freight or trucking invoices
Experience working with invoicing or transportation systems (training provided as needed)
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
