Westminster is a growing church in the heart of Charlotte, NC – a vibrant and flourishing city with amazing weather, exciting business opportunities, professional sports and arts and culture. Our church has approximately 500 covenant partners across all generations and a roster of youth grades 6-12 of about 70.
We are seeking an experienced youth ministry professional who is ready to use their faith and skills to creatively cultivate Christ‑centered ministry with our middle and high school students, their families and the community. This individual will be expected to be a positive, enthusiastic, integral part of our staff leadership team.
Responsibilities
Cultivating relationships with students and encourage them to grow as followers of Jesus Christ
Focusing on discipleship, the study of God’s Word, fellowship and service.
Recruiting, training and developing adult volunteer leaders to engage in student ministry
Leading a youth ministry support team including training and encouragement; creating ways to integrate our students into the larger WPC community.
Equipping parents to foster a discipleship culture in their homes
Building relationships with parents and families; Providing spiritual support and counsel. Offering growth and educational opportunities focused on culturally relevant understandings and tools.
Contributing as part of the WPC staff team
Collaborating with other church leadership teams; Working with the Director of Children and Family Ministry on family discipleship. Assisting in leading Sunday worship on occasion.
Qualifications
A strong, mature and evident personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
A clear calling and passion to work with youth and families in our church family and the surrounding community.
A humble desire to learn and grow.
Effective leadership and relationship building with students, parents and volunteers.
Credibility with parents in understanding the challenges they face; ability to counsel in times of crisis.
Successful track record in recruiting, training and equipping volunteer leaders to shepherd students.
Ability to work closely with church staff and lay leaders to live out the mission of the church.
Excellent multi-channel communication skills: phone, email, social media, church communications.
Minimum Education: college degree.
Ordination: not required, but ordained candidates are welcome. Ordination is also an option for the right candidate who wishes to pursue as part of future growth while on staff at WPC.
Ministry Experience: ideally 5 years of professional experience leading student ministry with a clear calling to include family ministry.
ECO Tenants: subscribe wholeheartedly to the Essential Tenets of ECO.
Supervision The Director of Youth and Family Ministry reports to the Senior Pastor. This is a full‑time position which provides benefits for the successful candidate. Salary will be commensurate with skill and experience level.
