Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Morgue Specialist for the department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Morgue Supervisor, responsible for preparation, embalming and presentation of cadavers in relation to the Human Gross Anatomy class. Also provide assistance relative to the needs of the Morgue and Anatomy Lab.
Preparation, embalming and presentation of cadavers for dissection in connection with the teaching of Human Gross Anatomy to medical students and surgical residents.
Provides support relative to the upkeep of the Anatomical Association morgue. Assists with maintenance of gross dissecting laboratories and material while any gross anatomy course is in session.
Utilizing current NJ Funeral Director License, for (single and multiple) transportation of cadavers to/from other medical facilities (i.e., School of Osteopathic Medicine, etc.) and to the crematory selected by the Anatomical Association for transportation of cremated ashes back to the Anatomical Association morgue.
Handles additional related responsibilities as assigned at Morgue Supervisor's discretion.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience
Associates Degree in a relevant science supplemented by a successful completion of a program in mortuary science internship, plus two (2) – three (3) years of related experience preferred.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
A current NJ Funeral Director License and a valid driver's license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: Ability to lift equipment, cadavers and carry boxes. No special vision requirements. Individual has to be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Morgue environment. Equipment used includes dissection tools (e.g., scalpels and bone saws), hoists (electric and hydraulic) and fluid pumps.
