Position Specific Description

The Social Media Leader is an executive-level role who will serve as a strategic architect and influencer within NextEra Energy’s Marketing & Communications function. This leader will define the vision, framework and priorities that guide how social media supports brand reputation, business objectives and audience engagement. Success in this role requires strong executive influence, cross‑functional leadership and a rigorous, insight‑driven approach to decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary advisor on social media strategy to senior leadership, guiding executives on the benefits and adoption of social media within communications and marketing programs

Collaborate with the Brand team to execute the company’s vision across social media channels

Enhance enterprise social media analytics capabilities by defining metrics frameworks, improving measurement rigor, and translating complex performance data into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership

Influence and secure budgets to run successful social media campaigns

Expand and optimize NextEra Energy’s social media channels, including emerging platforms (e.g., Reddit, Substack, TikTok)

Guide executive thought leadership on LinkedIn and other platforms

Oversee emergency communications and social customer service management

Lead vendor and operations management for social media initiatives

Integrate paid and organic efforts to maximize ROI

Foster cross‑functional collaboration on creative, optimizing content based on audience and performance data

Develop perspectives on agent engine optimization and influencer marketing

Ensure all campaigns and content reflect brand standards and strategic messaging

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned

Position Required Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing, public affairs or communications

Proven ability to influence across a matrixed organization and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership

Demonstrated success in securing executive buy‑in and resources for social media initiatives

Experience managing and developing social media teams

Strong understanding of social media landscape, best practices and analytics tools

Excellent communication, leadership and relationship‑building skills

Position Preferred Qualifications

Experience in energy, utilities or regulated industries

Experience using enterprise social media management platforms, including Sprinklr

Serves as the main Marketing & Communications (M&C) advisor to business unit leaders, offering strategic guidance on communication, branding, and marketing initiatives

Builds trusted relationships with media, agencies, influencers, and industry partners to strengthen credibility and reputation

Develops and implements integrated M&C plans aligned with enterprise goals, leveraging digital and AI tools for targeted engagement

Collaborates with leadership and technology teams to identify proactive communication opportunities that enhance visibility through innovation and storytelling

Ensures marketing campaigns, content, and materials consistently reflect brand standards and strategic messaging

Uses analytics, automation, and AI‑driven insights to measure and optimize campaign performance for greater impact

Leads internal and external communications to protect and enhance corporate reputation through media relations, executive messaging, and stakeholder engagement

Manages communication during organizational change, including digital transformations and AI adoption, across all internal and external channels

Co‑ordinates with creative, digital, IT, and PR teams to deliver cohesive, cross‑platform campaigns on time and within budget

Tracks and analyzes engagement metrics, presenting data‑driven insights to leadership while staying ahead of emerging communication and technology trends

Performs other job‑related duties as assigned
