
Digital and Social Media Intern

Position Summary
The Digital/Social Intern will work under the guidance of Director of Digital and Social Media to develop and execute digital content for social media and the web, and assist in broadcasts to highlight the events on campus and drive brand awareness, engagement and relevance (nationally, regionally and locally). This position will require an individual with a strong passion and an understanding of youth sports, as well as a desire to gain real world experience in social media and graphics, digital video, web editing, writing and live broadcasts. The ideal intern must have a competitive spirit and a winning attitude, a team orientation, effective communication and people skills.
Scope of Work
Posting to LakePoint Sports social channels
Capturing videos, photos from events
Clipping and editing highlights
Assisting in broadcast efforts with play‑by‑play and production opportunities
Creating video elements (features, interviews) for social and broadcasts
Podcast hosting and editing
Written content from events across campus
Assist in updating website
Support streaming efforts with scheduling, execution and troubleshooting
Write stories from events and post to website
On‑camera interviews and features
Behind‑the‑scenes tournament features
Podcasts (from ideation to execution and posting)
Qualifications
Preferred major in Communications/Journalism. Production or communications and/or prior media or sports experience preferred
Experience editing video (i.e. Premiere Pro, After Effects), photos (Photoshop) and/or audio (Audacity)
Familiarity with social media analytics is a plus
Job shadow experiences for other areas within our organization will be offered to LakePoint interns to help them understand the broader aspect of our business.
Internship Hours
Regular attendance is a necessary job function required for this position. Typical business hours are anticipated with various attendance hours expected at events which depends on the season, program, or event. Some weekend work will be required. LakePoint will ensure applicable credit hours are reached.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, interns are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle and operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
