Position Title
Packaging Specialist, Finishing
Organization Organizational Unit: Beverage Division Reports to: Finishing Manager Location: Monroe, Louisiana
Job Functions
Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
Review Job Information packet and verify correct loads are staged for hand feeding, and correct stacks are being received from Cutters.
Assist Operator with Automation issues on Gluer as directed.
Monitor automation for correct operation when both robots are operational.
Feed robot not receiving stacks from automation. Specials will hand feed until stacks are being supplied from Cutter; save all SAP load tags for Operator to issue.
Specialist will hand stack cases until automation is back operational.
Specials will hand feed and supervisor will direct additional support to hand stack cases when robots are not operational.
Relieve Operator for break.
Update Parkview data as required for timely checks. Ensure carton specifications are within customer requirements.
Update SAP data in a timely manner, including issue of hand‑stacked loads, down‑time events with proper coding, and scrap amounts.
Perform Leary checks 3 times per shift (8, 12 and 4 a.m. or p.m. depending on shift).
Ensure transition cartons and shingle board samples are collected as required.
Monitor all CSI automation is functioning properly, clear faults in a timely manner to reduce back‑up of system.
Assist the daily run task of machine: clearing jams, loading tap‑enforcer tape, cleaning glue filter, removing waste, moving loads.
Assist with Make Ready process while machine is down.
Line clearance of all equipment during copy changes.
Communicate with Supervisor and Material Handler about any possible road blocks in a timely manner.
Supervisor may direct other duties as needed to support the production of the Plant.
CSI Automation is functioning on both ends of the Gluer. Operator and Automation Specialist will break each other.
Requirements
Experience in manufacturing environment.
Must be willing to accept training and feedback as needed (for compliance with job requirements).
Ability to communicate effectively in order to establish a strong working relationship with all team members.
This position requires continuous walking, twisting, bending, stooping and lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work in an environment that is dusty, noisy, hot and humid.
Must be able to work any shift and work overtime with short notice.
Must be able to visually identify quality issues.
Must be able to think "outside the box" and collect and utilize data in decision making.
High School diploma or GED required.
Industrial Maintenance experience, printing experience preferred.
OSHA 10‑hour certification required; 30‑hour certification preferred.
Physical Demands
Position is associated with pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, reaching, stretching and working in tight positions.
Employee is continuously required to lift up to 20 pounds, frequently required to lift 10 to 50 pounds and occasionally required to lift over 50 pounds. Frequently required to carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.
Must have visual acuity at short distance to examine form and texture of product to detect imperfections.
Inside conditions include extremes of heat (100+ seasonal), humidity, working in tight areas, noise (from production machinery) and working with various oils, solvents and other related chemicals.
