
Fitter/Welder (Structural Steel)

All Things Metal, a structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator located in Phoenix, Arizona, is hiring a full‑time fitter/welder to work Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Accurately layout and fit‑up steel per shop drawings.
Properly set up the welding machine or wire feeder and adjust settings as required during welding.
Verify that full‑penetration welds comply with plans, AWS D1.1, and quality‑control requirements.
Read and interpret shop drawings.
Perform welds according to AWS D1.1 specifications.
Produce clean welds with no inclusions, undercuts, or porosity.
Clean slag and splatter from welds and surrounding areas.
Maintain and store equipment properly during and after use.
Grind, clean, or bevel fit‑ups of welds where required.
Preferred Experience
MIG welding with solid‑core gas‑shielded wire (light welding of railings/miscellaneous steel).
Welding mild steel over 1‑1/2″ thickness.
Requirements
3–5 years of experience in structural steel fitting, layout, and welding using the flux‑cored welding process.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and plans.
Safety orientation (OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 required).
Team‑player, punctual, and motivated.
Must pass in‑shop layout/fit‑up test.
Provide own welding hood, gloves, and jacket; must perform a fillet test.
Valid identification.
Background check and drug screening required prior to hire.
Professional working proficiency in English.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry objects weighing more than 50 lb.
Stoop, kneel, crawl, lie, bend, squat, stand, and walk for long periods.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
$20+ per hour, depending on experience, with opportunity for advancement after the first 90 days.
