Justice Court Clerk
The incumbent performs the various clerical activities and portions of the administrative responsibilities associated with court cases. The incumbent may provide information to the public about the operations of the Justice Court. The employee may assist the judges in the courtroom. Incumbents are supervised by a Senior Justice Court Deputy Clerk or the Justice Court Clerk. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Writes judgments and records on docket. Records cases on docket, pulls, returns and records on docket. Assists judges in courtroom. Types papers that are placed in the Constable's boxes for servicing. Issues warrants; mails notices on delinquent traffic violations. Processes court papers, summons, garnishments, etc. Picks up mail, opens and distributes. Assists public at counter; receives monies and gives receipts for civil and criminal papers. Answers phones, giving information to the public regarding their cases or general information. Performs other duties as assigned by the Justice Court Clerk. Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university and one (1) year experience in the Justice Court Clerk's office or directly related experience. or A high school diploma or GED and five years of related experience with one year in the Justice Court Clerk's office or directly related experience and Eligible for bonding. Terms of Employment This is a non-exempt position. This is an At-Will employment position.
