
Corrosion Protection Specialist (Contract)

Job Description
Airbus A220 Final Assembly Line is looking for a Corrosion Specialist to join our Production Team based in Mobile, AL. The Corrosion Specialist ensures corrosion protection is applied to every section and element of each aircraft as it proceeds through the Flowline. The specialist cleans areas of aircraft throughout the production process by hand and powered equipment, using cleaning fluids and materials in accordance with established procedures and/or regulations.
Responsibilities
Applies corrosion protection products to the aircraft throughout the assembly process.
Identifies opportunities for process improvements and participates in LEAN activities.
Performs cleaning of interior and exterior of aircraft including requisite confined spaces using basic methods such as wiping and scraping of metal shavings, liquids, etc.
Serves as confined space attendant monitoring activities inside and outside of a confined space, keeping accurate count of entrants, ensuring hazard awareness, summoning rescue and other emergency services as needed.
Implants protection covers such as formal protective covers and alternate methods of protection.
Uses authorized chemicals to clean aircraft.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Education (Required):
High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent. Must successfully complete Airbus training after recruitment.
Education (Preferred):
Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and techniques.
Experience (Required):
2 years minimum experience working with corrosion products and cleaning operations preferably in aviation manufacturing or repair.
Physical Requirements
Vision: Able to see and read computer screens, documents, reports, engineering drawings.
Hearing: Able to hear and participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone; aware of sounds on production floor.
Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and electronically; deliver info to groups.
Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items.
Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods at the computer and meetings.
Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
Standing: Able to stand for extended periods for discussions and on the production floor.
Travel/Mobility: Able to travel independently and at short notice.
Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas; sometimes on uneven surfaces.
Climbing: Ability to climb stairs or ladders as required.
