Alterations Customer Service Representative

Overview The Alterations Customer Service Representative (CSR) is a critical role for the successful operation of the Alterations department and for completing tasks that contribute to providing superior customer service. The CSR is responsible for providing an A+ customer experience to David’s Bridal customers. S/he reports to the Store Manager. The Alterations CSR may perform tasks such as welcoming and servicing customers, making appointments, answering phones, pressing garments, and ensuring items are ready for pickups.

Essential Job Functions

Welcome all customers with genuine, friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtually or in person; communicate clearly; adapt style to suit customers; solve problems; demonstrate excellent phone skills; and resolve conflicts.

Use all systems to manage the customer flow to deliver a five-star customer experience.

Meet all service vows including: Prepare, Welcome, Meet Needs & Be There for all customers; complete operational checklist tasks and address customers’ emotional and practical needs.

Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at once; contribute to the store’s Five-Star Customer Service goals; proactively address concerns and know when to escalate to leadership.

Explain how alterations can enhance the fit of a dress for events in partnership with Alterations.

Promote all alterations services and personalization options.

Maintain store standards (clean, organized, promotional readiness, store recovery) to support a flawless shopping experience.

Maintain high dress code standards as required by policy.

Greet and escort alterations customers to and from appointments.

Press, steam, and spot clean merchandise; inspect garments after alteration/steaming/pressing for pristine condition before delivery.

Build long-term relationships to meet and exceed customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Support inventory management by processing special orders, pickups, and first-quality standards for all merchandise.

Support cash wrap and process transactions accurately to ensure customers feel celebrated.

Seek assistance from the Alterations Manager to resolve customer issues beyond the CSR’s control.

Maintain a clean and well-organized alterations area.

Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; reach for tools and objects; climb stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; bend and twist; move throughout the store; communicate with customers.

Manual dexterity for POS use, counting money, steaming garments, operating computers and phones, and sewing/fitting as needed.

Lift/move up to 10 pounds; good vision and ability to read from screens and fabric labels.

Education & Credentials

High school diploma or equivalent

1-2 years prior retail experience in apparel or specialty store environment

Prior sewing experience is helpful

Prior experience with computerized POS system
