The Waterfront Director is a key member of the Camp Seneca Lake (CSL) Leadership Team each summer. Overseeing all programming, operations, and safety at the CSL Waterfront, the Waterfront Director plays a pivotal role in the delivery of one of CSL's signature program areas.

The Waterfront Director is responsible for leading their staff in implementing a curriculum that includes both daily activity periods and more in-depth "Hobby" experiences at CSL. The Waterfront Director must demonstrate sound judgment and establish a nurturing and safe environment for all campers, SITs (staff in training), and staff.

The Waterfront Director will work directly with the Waterfront specialists and in partnership with all staff, and report directly to the Assistant Director of Programming and Logistics.

The Waterfront Director must be experienced in camp or waterfront programming and child supervision. The best Waterfront Directors are education focused, dependable, and flexible. 21+ years old preferred.

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Waterfront Director is expected to take on additional responsibilities beyond the Waterfront including (but not limited to) attending Leadership Staff Orientation and ongoing Leadership team meetings, serving as On Duty staff in the evenings, driving for camp as needed/required for your role, participating in emergency response plans. Private housing with a shared bathroom is included, along with three meals and plentiful snacks each day.

Program Responsibilities

Working in collaboration with other Waterfront staff and Assistant Director of Programming and Logistics, to plan, execute and create daily and specialty programming for all campers at Camp Seneca Lake.

Facilitating daily activity periods for campers aged 8-15 years old focusing on skill-building in sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, canoeing, kayaking, and SUPing.

Supervise 7-10 staff members and Staff in Training.

Be punctual to all programs and meetings

Be responsible for the proper use of equipment and supplies at each activity

Take lead in maintaining powerboats and sailboats - support from our maintenance and facilities team is available.

Must be certified or willing to gain certification in all relevant areas ( Lifeguarding and Safe Powerboat Handling).

Minimum Qualifications:

Be responsible for the general health and safety of their assigned campers

Establish an atmosphere in which campers feel secure, happy, and part of the group

Supervise campers under their immediate care at all time

Make sure their campers adhere to camp rules

Set a good example in all areas of camp life; act as a role model

Participate with their group in all camp activities

Cooperating with the other specialists and counselors in matters involving rules, safety, and program

Follow through on approved curriculum plans

Share these responsibilities with other staff assigned to the same program area

Be drug-free (including paraphernalia) and alcohol free at camp.

Avoid physically intimate relationships with all campers
