As a Legislative & Regulatory Policy Assistant Director or Associate Director, you’ll be responsible for assisting the legislative and regulatory teams within the Office of Public Policy; monitoring, communicating, and shaping legislative and public policy activity. Must have demonstrated experience understanding policy‑making processes and ability to develop written content for internal use in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment. Also must have strong professional networking and public policy advocacy skills.
Your key responsibilities
Assist team with development and execution of the EY Office of Public Policy strategy, including engagement with Washington policymakers and other stakeholders.
Develop subject matter expertise in policy areas critical to the firm, including covering congressional hearings and related events as warranted.
Produce written deliverables for internal use and distribution.
Assist EY legislative team and/or EYPAC representative in political activities relevant to the firm’s priorities.
Manage communications distribution channel.
Skills and attributes for success
Demonstrated understanding of U.S. congressional and administration policy‑making processes, including Executive agencies, the White House, Senate, House, think tanks and associations.
Proven research, writing and editing skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines.
Quick learner of communication tools and techniques available within the firm.
Work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment.
Independent monitoring of events, understanding critical points and summarizing for distribution within EY.
Anticipate policy trends and help formulate advocacy strategies.
To qualify for the role, you must have
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
8‑10+ years of relevant experience, including experience on Capitol Hill, lobbying or regulatory policy for the Assistant Director rank.
10‑12+ years of relevant experience, including experience on Capitol Hill, lobbying or regulatory policy for the Associate Director rank.
Ability to attend EY and client events some evenings and weekends.
Ability to work in the EY Washington D.C. office multiple days a week.
