JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a high-caliber Safety Director to lead the strategic development and execution of workplace safety initiatives, ensuring full compliance with HIOSH, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards across our agricultural sites. You will manage a team of safety coordinators, oversee their professional development and performance while fostering a proactive culture of injury prevention within our farm labor operations. Your role involves conducting rigorous risk assessments, performing onsite audits, and collaborating with operations management to integrate safety protocols into daily field workflows. By analyzing data and managing compliance equipment, you will mitigate workplace hazards and provide executive-level reporting to drive continuous safety improvements for our team and the communities we serve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regulatory Compliance & Policy Development:

Design and execute comprehensive workplace safety policies and procedures aligned with HIOSH, OSHA, HDOA, EPA, and DOA standards.

Leadership & Team Management:

Lead, train, and mentor a team of safety coordinators, overseeing annual performance evaluations and implementing professional development plans.

Risk Mitigation & Auditing:

Conduct regular jobsite inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and minimize occupational illnesses or accidents.

Operational Collaboration:

Partner with the operations team to integrate injury prevention efforts into daily workflows and provide expert guidance on compliance matters.

Strategic Reporting & Assessment:

Perform hazard assessments for new clients and deliver detailed monthly and annual safety performance reports to executive management.

Safety Resource Management:

Manage the distribution and maintenance of critical safety assets, including PPE, compliance binders, and federal/state regulatory posters.

Other duties as assigned or required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual (English/Spanish):

Required. Must be able to deliver technical safety training and communicate complex standards fluently in both languages.

Schedule & Availability:

Standard Monday–Friday schedule during off‑peak periods, with a 6 to 7‑day workweek required during peak seasonal operations (approx. 6 months/year). Flexibility for weekend work outside of peak season is required based on operational needs.

Regulatory Knowledge:

Master‑level understanding of HIOSH and OSHA standards and federal safety legislation.

Hazard Management:

Solid practical knowledge of identifying and managing potentially hazardous materials or dangerous practices in the workplace.

Policy Development:

Proven ability to author and implement robust health and safety policies and procedural frameworks.

Data Analysis:

Proficiency in conducting complex data analysis and reporting accurate safety statistics.

Safety Software:

Working knowledge of industry‑standard safety management software, including

iAuditor, SiteDocs, and Safesite .

Leadership Excellence:

Superior supervisory skills with a track record of leading and mentoring safety teams.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred):

Specialized degree in Safety Management, Environmental Safety, or a related field.

Professional Certification:

Valid certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management.

Management Tenure:

A minimum of 3 years of direct experience as a Safety Director or Health and Safety Manager.

Driving Record:

Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean DMV driving record eligible for coverage under the company’s commercial auto insurance policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 20% or less of the workday.

Constant operation of a motor vehicle across various regional and remote locations.

Frequent movement across rough, uneven, or muddy terrain, including active agricultural fields.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Frequent positioning including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing.

Constant exposure to outdoor environmental conditions, including extreme heat, direct sun, wind, rain, and dust.

Must be able to wear and work in required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and specialized safety gear.

Frequent communication in loud or outdoor environments.
