The Muskegon Area District Library (MI) seeks a strategic and experienced Director to lead a multi‑branch system serving almost 110,000 residents across 19 municipalities and townships along the West Michigan lakeshore. Governed by an eight‑member Board of Trustees, the library operates 11 locations with 45 FTE and an annual budget of $5.8 million. Voters recently approved a 10‑year millage in 2025, reinforcing strong community support and providing a stable funding foundation for the system’s future. MADL is a member of the Lakeland Library Cooperative, sharing a catalog, resources, and delivery system with regional partners. Key responsibilities include fostering a strong and supportive work environment, stewarding public funds to meet community needs, and engaging with a range of stakeholders, including local governments, community partners, and union representatives. The Director will ensure the library remains responsive and relevant as community expectations and needs evolve.

Located just 30 minutes from Grand Rapids and within driving distance of Chicago and Detroit, Muskegon offers both connectivity and space, with housing options ranging from downtown living to suburban neighborhoods and rural settings.
