is seeking an
IT Asset Manager (ITAM)
to oversee the financial, operational, and lifecycle management of IT assets across the CIO organization in support of the FAA BNATCS program. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate asset tracking, cost optimization, and governance throughout the entire asset lifecycle from request and procurement through deployment, refresh, retirement, and disposal. The IT Asset Manager maintains reliable asset records, enforces standard lifecycle processes, manages warranties and renewals, and partners with organizational leaders to improve asset utilization, reduce waste, enhance forecasting, and strengthen audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Own the full IT asset lifecycle for hardware and selected software/license assets, including intake, purchasing coordination, receiving, tagging, deployment readiness, refresh planning, redeployments, and end‑of‑life disposal
Maintain accurate asset status, ownership, and location across all moves/adds/changes, ensuring alignment with onboarding, offboarding, and operational support processes
Establish, document, and enforce lifecycle standards and governance practices
Track total cost of ownership (TCO) and lifecycle spending for IT assetsIdentify and implement cost optimization opportunities across inventory, licensing, and refresh cycles
Maintain system‑of‑record accuracy for asset inventory and/or the CMDB
Conduct regular physical and system‑based audits/reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and updating records as needed
Manage warranties, maintenance renewals, and support contracts; track expirations and coordinate timely renewals
Coordinate vendor returns and RMA processes and ensure updates to asset records, financial systems, and lifecycle documentation
Support sourcing and procurement activities with asset utilization data, lifecycle insights, and forecasting
Ensure all lifecycle processes comply with governance requirements for traceability, approvals, chain‑of‑custody, and secure disposal evidence
Support internal and external audits by providing accurate reports, documentation, and processing evidence
Produce recurring reporting to CIO leadership on inventory health, refresh readiness, aging assets, utilization trends, warranty exposure, and cost insights
Drive continuous improvement of asset workflows to reduce manual effort, shorten cycle times, and improve accuracy and service outcomes
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Minimum of 8+ years with a Bachelor’s degree, 6+ years with a Master's degree, or 3+ years and PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Demonstrated experience managing IT assets and lifecycle processes with strong attention to detail and ownership
Understanding of IT hardware categories and lifecycle realities
Proven ability to track asset financials: budgeting/forecasting support, invoice/PO reconciliation, lifecycle costing and reporting
Strong process orientation with ability to design, document, and enforce repeatable workflows across multiple stakeholders
Experience with ITAM/CMDB or service management platforms (ServiceNow preferred, or equivalent) and able to maintain high-quality records
Strong Excel skills with ability to build clear asset reports and reconcile data across sources
Ability to communicate clearly and coordinate across IT, Finance, Procurement, and vendors
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain an FAA Public Trust clearance
This is a 100% on-site role, candidates must be local to and able to commute to our Herndon/Chantilly, VA or Bowie, MD locations
Occasional travel to local Peraton and customer facilities in the National Capital Region may be required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ITAM tooling and integrations (ServiceNow ITAM, Flexera, Snow, Tanium, SCCM, Intune, etc.)
Comfort automating/reporting via Python, PowerShell/Bash, or BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) to improve accuracy and reduce manual effort
Familiarity with license tracking, entitlement management, and audit response for major vendors
Experience with contract terms affecting cost (renewals, co-terming, device-based vs user-based licensing)
Experience operating in audit-sensitive or regulated environments with evidence-based processes
Familiarity with secure disposal standards and chain-custody
Experience working closely with sourcing/procurement, negotiating models, and managing vendor performance and SLAs
IAITAM (CSAM/CHAMP), ITIL, ServiceNow ITAM training, or relevant procurement/asset certifications

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. EEO
