Executive Director, Minnesota Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (MN FCCLA) – Full-time; reports to the MN FCCLA Board of Directors. Office: Roseville, MN (hybrid work). Salary: $72,000-$76,000 depending on experience.
MN FCCLA is a student‑led Career and Technical Student Organization for grades 6‑12 that focuses on leadership, personal growth, and career preparation through Family and Consumer Sciences education. With 4,000 members, it empowers students to address community issues, compete in STAR events, and explore careers in culinary arts, design, education, and more.
General Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Work with the Board of Directors to fulfill the mission through programs, strategic planning, community outreach, and partnerships.
Implement programs that promote personal growth and leadership opportunities for students.
Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure future success.
Create leadership programming for student leaders, including state, region, and chapter officers.
Guide state officers in leadership development, program planning, membership promotion, and state‑level projects.
Enhance MN FCCLA’s image by being active in the community and collaborating with professional, civic, and private organizations.
Engage FCCLA volunteers, youth members, leaders, advisors, committees, partners, and funders.
Serve as the primary connection between the national office, state association, and local chapter advisors.
Coordinate logistics for state‑level events such as conferences, officer training, and competitions.
Represent MN FCCLA at the Minnesota Foundation for Student Organizations.
Financial Management & Fundraising
Develop and manage resources to ensure financial health.
Lead financial strategy, including annual budget development and quarterly board reporting.
Ensure fiscal integrity through resource allocation, oversight, and compliance.
Drive fundraising efforts, including grant writing, sponsorship development, and partnership cultivation.
Manage grant reporting and reimbursement processes.
Organization Operations
Hire and oversee qualified staff and contractors when applicable.
Sign all notes, agreements, contracts, and other instruments on behalf of the organization.
Board Relations & Governance
Maintain strong communication with the Board of Directors, providing timely updates and recommendations.
Partner with Board leadership to develop meeting agendas, strategic priorities, and policies.
Monitor legislative and educational trends impacting Career and Technical Education, advising the Board and advisors.
Job Responsibilities
Report and collaborate with the Board of Directors on policy decisions.
Be a resource for student members and advisors regarding the organization.
Engage non‑FCCLA FCS programs to increase membership.
Prepare and manage the annual budget.
Serve as MN FCCLA’s primary spokesperson to constituents, media, and the public.
Establish and maintain relationships with other organizations to strategically enhance the mission.
Engage in fundraising, grant writing, and develop additional revenue streams.
Ensure all state and federal nonprofit requirements are met.
Oversee marketing and communications efforts.
Work with the Board President to prepare information and resources for meetings and committees.
Plan and implement multi‑day, youth‑centered events throughout the year.
Create an environment that encourages youth engagement and growth across all levels.
Develop youth programs that meet current needs and phase out irrelevant programs.
Collaborate with National FCCLA to ensure compliance with its requirements.
Be flexible with schedule and willing to travel beyond regular business hours.
Be able to lift or carry up to fifty pounds occasionally.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Professional Qualifications Needed
Advanced degree with at least 5 years of management experience.
Unwavering commitment to quality programming for youth and chapter advisors.
Excellence in organizational and financial management; background in family and consumer sciences education.
Past success working with a board of directors and youth leaders.
Strongly preferred teaching experience with licensure for Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
Demonstrated expertise in student leadership development, workshop facilitation, and event management.
Strong marketing (including social media) and partnership development experience.
Ability to connect with multiple audiences (members, advisors, alumni) and pivot strategies as needed.
Ability to build rapport and a sense of belonging for a diverse student population.
Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, non‑profit budgets, and staffing constraints.
